If you’ve played the free the flash game, you pretty much know what this game is about, you play this running guy to avoid dying from collapsing buildings, deadly falls, explosive missiles and a robot apocalypse. As much as the game is simplistic and minimal, the game is surprisingly serves a lot of fun in short bursts or even in long sessions.
You have one command in the entire game – jumping. the game pretty much does the running you jump to avoid boxes and furniture so you don’t lose momentum, if you do you won’t be able to make certain jumps. The level is endless and designed in random, so no two stages are exactly the same. As you progress the obstacles multiply and you have to be quicker in jump response.you can tweet your scores via Twitter.
The presentation is pretty much spot on, the beautiful grayscale pixel art will tickle that 8 year old inside all of us, the fast paced gameplay gives the graphics more of perspective which is also great. The game plays one music track in the whole entirety of the game (which is one infinite level), it’s well picked for the game since it gives the necessary adrenaline rush to make you press forward.
All in all the game is fun and addictive, you will be playing game after game after game until you get an insanely high score, you post your score on twitter to let your friends know how far you’ve reached.
What we think: the game is well worth the 2.99 dollar tag, if you’re looking for a quick, simple yet challenging game, Canabalt is a good game to have on your iPod Touch/iPhone.
Edit: Works great natively on iPad too, runs 60 fps now.
